Netimpact Publishing was established in Canberra in November 1996 with the vision of filling a space in the market for professional electronic publishing and knowledge management solutions.

Victoria Richardson and Christopher Toogood founded Netimpact Publishing in response to government and private industry needs to develop usable and useful information for a screen-based environment.

The Australian Electoral Commission recently asked Netimpact to create a virtual library of thousands of pages to support a public telephone enquiry service. The AEC maintains a call centre to take calls in the period prior to an election. Netimpact Publishing converted all the paper-based resources, which the telephone operators relied on, into an electronic desktop, with intuitive navigation and onscreen data input forms.
The National Rural Health Alliance created a virtual library of key health information to distribute to rural and remote communities. The NRHA's role is to actively disseminate health information concerning rural Australia. Working with the NRHA, Netimpact Publishing developed the most extensive health related virtual library on CD ROM ever published in Australia. This virtual library won and ISTC international award for digital documentation.
The National Standards Commission publishes an updated virtual library of all their official certificates of measurement every 6 months.
The Australian Science, Technology and Engineering Council created a virtual archive of all ASTEC publications.
Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has an extensive and complex manual and legislation library that is distributed widely within the Australian aviation industry. Netimpact Publishing initially provided an information management consultancy on how best to publish and distribute these documents on CD ROM and subsequently publishes a completely updated issue every 8 weeks.
The CASA Manual Library on CD won the 2001 ISTC Electronic Document Award in London.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), as well as the Bureau of Transport Economics (BTE), recently created several sets of virtual libraries containing research reports and journals for archival purposes and future research.
These libraries were almost completely created from scanned hardcopy materials. Over 60,000 document pages were converted to searchable digital files resulting in an innovative information retrieval environment.
The Commonwealth Government Style Manual for Authors and Publishers has recently been updated. Netimpact's expertise in information management, information display, and information finding habits of readers has earned the Company a place on the editorial team.

Chris' special creative skill in electronic publishing produces professional and innovative products. His extensive knowledge and experience with digital products allows him to see, and implement, the best solution for all types of information being published electronically. His background in publishing and graphic design combines to create products that are highly useable, easy to navigate, exceeding the expectations of our clients. Chris has used his management and marketing skills in a previous business, has spent many years as a publisher in Canberra, most recently as the Internet Editor for a large government department. Chris is currently directing the Adobe Capture user group in Australia.
Rico has over 12 years of experience in large scale conversion of information stored in various media and formats into SGML/XML and other proprietary formats (Tex, LaTex, XyVision, etc.). Rico has a university degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. His early work experience includes installation and maintenance of mainframe and minicomputer systems. He received his SGML training from Graphics Communication Association (GCA) of the US in San Diego, California in 1991. He received his HyTime (Hypermedia/Time-based Structuring Language) training from Charles Goldfarb, the father of SGML, in Singapore in 1994. In the last 7 years he worked for the 2 biggest legal publishers in Australia and New Zealand as Senior SGML/XML Architect. His expertise includes: developing SGML/XML DTDs, XML schemas, XSL stylesheets, and SGML/XML conversion specifications. He is proficient in VB, VBScript, Javascript, Omnimark and Perl and Adobe products. Rico's favourite past time is photo and video editing.
Rowan's main area of expertise is in visual design. Rowan is able to create visually effective interfaces and complementary designs for application templates, virtual library interfaces, multimedia front-ends and html. Rowan also specialises in xhtml/css coding and online accessibility. During his Bachelor of Communication, he specialised in multimedia and experienced incorporating a range of new medias into on-screen design. Since working for Netimpact, Rowan has developed his visual style and specialised in screen based interface design and accessibility. Rowan has a clear perception of client needs, and knows how to balance contemporary aesthetic design with functionality and usability. Visit Rowan's website.
Lisa's area of expertise is in digital document production. She will scan and OCR original documentation, and prepare them for CD or web based products. She is currently studying towards an Advanced Diploma in Printing and Graphic Arts (Multimedia) encompassing electronic design and digital imaging. While developing her consulting skills Lisa is learning to publish, craft and design content for screen use to meet the needs of the end user. Lisa also assists in management tasks, graphical design, information architecture and usability engineering.
