Netimpact Publishing has designed unique and innovative retrieval, searching and display systems to wrap around the core content of any virtual library. This allows searching across whole documents or across the whole library of titles to find the exact information required.
The Australian Electoral Commission recently asked Netimpact to create a virtual library of thousands of pages to support a public telephone enquiry service. The AEC maintains a call centre to take calls in the period prior to an election. Netimpact Publishing converted all the paper-based resources, which the telephone operators relied on, into an electronic desktop, with intuitive navigation and onscreen data input forms.
The National Rural Health Alliance created a virtual library of key health information to distribute to rural and remote communities. The NRHA's role is to actively disseminate health information concerning rural Australia. Working with the NRHA, Netimpact Publishing developed the most extensive health related virtual library on CD ROM ever published in Australia. This virtual library won and ISTC international award for digital documentation.
The National Standards Commission publishes an updated virtual library of all their official certificates of measurement every 6 months.
The Australian Science, Technology and Engineering Council created a virtual archive of all ASTEC publications.
Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) has an extensive and complex manual and legislation library that is distributed widely within the Australian aviation industry. Netimpact Publishing initially provided an information management consultancy on how best to publish and distribute these documents on CD ROM and subsequently publishes a completely updated issue every 8 weeks.
The CASA Manual Library on CD won the 2001 ISTC Electronic Document Award in London.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), as well as the Bureau of Transport Economics (BTE), recently created several sets of virtual libraries containing research reports and journals for archival purposes and future research.

Single document projects
The HTML publishing tasks Netimpact undertakes for government departments and commercial organisations require more than plain HTML conversion, using standard tools.
Usability testing has revealed people find long documents on a screen hard to conceptualise and navigate. Netimpact designs documents for the screen with an intuitive information architectures and navigation paths that make the documents easier for readers to use and understand.
Netimpact has Adobe Expert status for the creation and manipulation of Acrobat documents. Documents in the pdf format have a unique place in the dissemination of information today. Acrobat pdf format allows the delivery of documents onscreen exactly as they appeared in print.

Scanning and OCR
Older information can be just as valuable as new information. Leveraging the benefits of older information efficiently means not having to reinvent the wheel. But often that older information is hard to access, hard to find and impossible to reuse efficiently.
Scanning hardcopy documents and converting content to an electronic format makes older information more profitable. It also means more effective and efficient management and storage.
Sometimes it is important to keep an exact image of the original document. But in the past, these images have not been keyword searchable.
